We are less than 4 weeks away from the biggest women’s mountain bike race in country! We hope you have been able to get in some early season miles this spring with fantastic weather that has graced the Denver Metro Front Range. The ski season may have ended early, but it has meant dry trails since February!
If you have raced the Beti Bike Bash before we can’t wait to see you again! If this is your first time, then we are happy you are joining us! The 4-mile race course, designed by Yeti Beti, provides an experience that every woman, regardless of how long her race resume is, or lack thereof, can enjoy. Similar to past years, Yeti Beti will host a pre-ride of the race course on Tuesday June 5, 2012 at 6pm. We will meet at the parking lot at Coyote Crossing (start/finish area) and do one lap of the course together. Feel free to bring friends and ask questions! We know many of you are new to this “racing” thing and want to make sure you are prepared come race day.
You can find a map of the park here under Quick Links off to the right.
Two notable changes for this year are an earlier start time and capped race categories. We’ve have received a lot of feedback regarding the heat later in the day so we are going to start the beginner women at 8am. Also, to ensure that everyone has a positive experience on race day, we are capping the beginner and sport categories. Of course we want to see more women racing, but our concern for your safety is our priority and do not want such large fields that this becomes an issue. If you haven’t registered yet, please do so as day of registration for these categories may be sold out prior to June 10. Pre-registration and packet pick up will be held at Tilvee, next to Yeti Cycles in Golden, Friday, June 8 from 4:30-7pm. We will also have packet pick up and pre-registration at Coyote Crossing from 2-4pm on Saturday June 9.
Schedule of events:
8 a.m. start: category 3 women (beginner) 10 year age group starts; 2 laps
9:15 a.m. Category 2 women (sport) 10 age group starts; 3 laps
10:30 a.m. Cat1/Open/PRO/SS category starts; 4 laps
This year we welcome the Little Bellas Girls camp on June 9-10 (camp location at Coyote Crossing at Bear Creek Lake Park). Girls aged 8-14 can participate in a professionally instructed camp to learn new skills, meet other young mountain bikers, and engage in a new lifetime sport. Registration is limited to 35 girls.
We would like to recognize our presenting sponsor, Stan’s NoTubes, for continued financial support of our race. They have been a leader in the cycling industry with their innovations to tubeless technology. Located in Big Flats, New York, they will be at our race EXPO this year. They will also have several of their Stan’s NoTubes women’s elite team racing as well. We can’t thank them enough for the support of the Beti Bike Bash.
We will send out more information as we get closer to the race.
