Nina Baum

After coming out of retirement to race for the Stan’s NoTubes Women’s Elite Mountain Bike Team in its inaugural season last year, Nina had her most successful season on the mountain bike ever. Amongst several noticeable results, she was 10th at the National Championships in Cross Country, 8th at the final US Pro XCT in Missoula, MT, and was the 24-hour National Champion in the Mixed Duo category. Credit for this success goes to the fantastic energy created by this great team, but also to the junior athletes she coaches for Get Out! New Mexico, which also enjoyed its inaugural season in 2011. As coach and director for Get Out! NM, she rides on a daily basis with eight juniors aged 13 to 18, which keeps her on her toes and has earned Get Out! a national title at the 2011 US Mountain Bike Championships and a silver medal at the 2012 US Cyclocross National Championships.

In her 10-year career as a pro mountain biker, Nina has been the US Collegiate Mountain Bike Champion in cross-country and short track for the UNM Lobos (2004). Racing for the Cannondale Mountain Bike Team from 2005 to 2009, she competed on the European World Cup circuit in 2007, and finished in the top ten on the US National Mountain Bike Series in 2008 and 2009. She has been a 5-time New Mexico state mountain bike champion, and 3-time NM Cyclocross state champion.

For 2013, Nina looks forward to representing the Stan’s NoTubes Women’s Elite Mountain Bike Team at the cross-country National Championships, the Whiskey Off-Road, US Pro XCT races, and a few longer endurance races, while continuing to coach the next generation of NM cyclists to have fun and be fast.
