Mical started mountain biking at the age of 20 with her Dad and Brother as a replacement to team sports. She soon fell in love with the atmosphere and the people, and her competitive side fell in love with racing, becoming 3x Canada Cup Series Champion, 3x Transrockies Champion, The Furious3 Fernie Champion, and a part of the Canadian National team since 2005. Cyclocross was a natural progression, once she tried it she was hooked, and in 2012 she nabbed the Canadian National Champions jersey and the SSCXWC (Single Speed Cyclocross World Champion) gold bikini and tattoo. As Canadian National Champion, Mical earned a berth to Elite World Championships, held outside of Europe for the first time ever, in Louisville KY Februeary 2, 2013.
This summer, Mical continues her super successful representation of Stan’s NoTubes as a member of the Elite Women’s Mountainbike Team. After taking a little time off following Cyclocross Worlds in February, her plan is to gear up to defend her Transrockies and Furious3 stage race titles. She will be using early season marathon races such as the Nimby 50 and the Test of Metal to get everything dialed in, and maybe even a certain Missoula XCT.
As Enduro racing is making headway across North America, watch out for Mical at many of the hugely popular Oregon Enduros, rocking yes, Cannondale and Stan’s NoTubes! As well she will be visiting the Top of the World again with the Crankworx Enduro and the dirt crit weekend.
Mical enjoys being able to give back to the cycling community by leading riding clinics as well as a women’s riding group which she has created. Off the bike, Mical is a full time Geologist, either working in the field on a drilling rig, or in the office. In her spare time she loves sushi, cooking, gardening and chocolate.
