Kaila began her cycling career in junior development programs and quickly gained a love for training and racing. After a 3rd place finish at the 2009 US Mountain Bike Nationals in the Junior Expert category, and a narrow miss at qualifying for the Junior Worlds Team, she was inspired to continue setting her sights high. In 2011, Kaila was selected to be one of two U23 riders to represent the US Mountain Bike Nationals team at Mountain Bike World Championships is Champery, Switzerland. The last 2 years she has had solid results and high rankings in regional, collegiate and national races as a U23 and Elite racer. Highlights for 2012 include an 11th place finish at the Windham, NY World Cup and a 15th place at the Mont Sainte Anne, CAN World Cup. This year she finished 4th at US Mountain Bike Nationals in the most competitive U23 field the sport has seen in ten years. Kaila’s goals for the 2013 race season include one top ten finish on the National Series Pro XCT, a top ten at Mont Sainte Anne and to be selected for the US Nationals team for the 2013 Mountain Bike World Championships.
When not training and racing, you’ll find her in class studying chemistry and math, backcountry skiing, climbing, mentoring young athletes in the Get Out! training program, relaxing with friends and family – or out shopping for the latest in designer jeans.
