With Spring moving into Summer, the Stan’s NoTubes Women’s Elite Team has been all over the place. The month started off with some excellent Transylvania Epic racing. It was a hard fought inter-team battle, with Stan’s taking the 1,2,3.
From the book of Sue:
I’ve been a Renaissance woman in June! I’ve placed second in the 7 day Transylvania Epic MTB Stage Race in State College PA, 1st in the Pisgah Mountain Enduro in North Carolina, 1st at the Massanutten Hoo Ha Enduro and XC race, and organized and hosted the Canaan MTB Festival in Davis, West Virginia.
It’s a honor to represent my sponsors, see my friends, race my teammates, be a mountain bike instructor and host a benefit party weekend for the Tucker County Trails Club. It’s a dream lifestyle to be involved with so many different aspects of mountain biking right now in my region of the world. I am a recreational pro racer, a product tester, a mountain bike ambassador, guide, teacher and pink shredder! I am very grateful! Thank You!
From the book of Kathy:
This month has favored the journalists, photographers and writers from across the globe!
At the beginning of June I had the opportunity to take Taiwanese journalist Eric and his photographer Brock out on a mtb tour followed by lunch at Deer Valley Resort. Eric is a regular contributor to the magazine DISCOVERY CULTURAL AND GEOGRAPHIC MONTHLY (DISCOVERY) with readers from Mainland China and Taiwan. We took several photos and had a great mountain bike tour of the area.
A few weeks later, Bike Press Camp came to Deer Valley Resort bringing many exhibitors (including Stan’s NoTubes!) along with media to our beautiful mountain venue. The Executive Editor for www.bikebiz.com from the UK was present at both the Stan’s NoTubes guided ride as well as a private tour guided by me later in the week.
From the book of Mical:
It’s been an exciting season of racing and riding, especially the past couple weeks. I finished off the end of May with the Nimby 50 marathon race in Pemberton, BC. Learnt a very hard lesson from last year, and paced the 101 switchbacks a lot better this year. It was a hard battle to the finish and (I) took the win!
I switched gears the following weekend and grabbed my hot pink road bike (I was very pink that weekend), to race my token road omnium for the year. I finished 3rd in the TT (nothing like a slammed low road bike front end to compete with the TT bikes), 2nd in a very hilly road course and 1st in the Bastion Crit, joining some pretty prestigious names on the cup and finishing 2nd overall for the weekend. What a great weekend of training!
Mid June, I partnered up with my boyfriend Regan for the 12 hours of Cumberland XC race, finishing 2nd in a close battle with another co-ed team on some of the best trails I’ve ever ridden.
From the book of Nina
Nina Baum continued her crushing hard woman ways, taking a very impressive 24 hour National Championship solo victory! Killer!
Read all about it here.
From the book of Amanda:
Results in June
1st TransSylvania Epic
11th Missoula Pro XCT Short Track
10th Missoula Pro XCT XC
5th Missoula Pro XCT Super D
1st Cache-Game (local race in Jackson, WY broke my own course record)
2nd Sun Valley Enduro
“The TransSylvania Epic was the highlight of my season so far. All my training and preparation for the season was focused on coming into TSE as ready as possible, so it was great to set that goal and have it work out in the end! It was also super special to do it in the backyard of Stan’s NoTubes, surrounded by teammates and supported by the Stan’s staff. Stage racing is so, so hard, it takes a great team of support to pull it off. Plus, 7 days of gnarly, rocky PA terrain and not a single flat tire. I’m grateful to Stan’s NoTubes for that, too!”
“I tried my first Enduro race in Sun Valley this past weekend at the Ride Sun Valley festival. It was a 4 stage, 2-day format. I went there purely for training for US Marathon National Championships, as the courses raced on a lot of the Marathon Nats course, but ended up really enjoying the racing! I chose to ride to the top of Baldy Mountain (the Sun Valley ski area) each day to get my training done before the stages started so I got a lot of the nerves and energy out on the 3200 vert. foot climb up. I had no flats (thanks Stan’s), only a few minor crashes and had a blast. I ended up 2nd overall, only down 30 sec. after 1:40 of racing. I also won the timed pump track competition for a time bonus.”
From the book of Shannon:
June has been full of support from the team staff, keeping our Sprinter van with me and mechanic Chris George busy every weekend and between! From the Beti Bash June 1, where Stan’s NoTubes Women’s Elite U23 member Kaila Hart led the Little Bella ride in addition to racing, to Vail’s GoPro Games, Nina’s solo win at 24 Hour National Championships, to Press Camp in Park City, to ProXCT Missoula we have been hopping. Next up are Marathon Nationals in Sun Valley, ProXCT Wisconsin and XC National Championships! Thanks for following, and thank you from the bottom of our collective team heart for the support! Happy Trails!!
