From our friends on the Feenstra-Felt Team
Mission completed. Top ten in the World Cup. Our aims where high this weekend. On Tuesday we left for a long trip towards the beautiful nature of Norway. Skiing region Hafjell to be precise.
On Saturday Robby, Thijs and Ruben where poised for a good finish of the World Cup season.
The Hafjell region will be hosting the World Championships of Mountain bike. Because of that it made extra sense to be here with our development team and staff to experience what we can expect next season.
Robby de Bock started well in the Elite Men’s race. In the first lap he came by on 29th position, but due to a technical issue he dropped back end 60th. Our Team mechanic rapidly fixed the obstruction and Robby continued his race in a cracking pace. Eventually finishing 45th.
The best performance came from our U23 Men’s Riders, Ruben Scheire and Thijs Zuurbier. Both started in the middle of the pack. Ruben however managed to move up, hunting for the first group of riders upfront. Lap after lap he gained places and he even got very close to 8th place, eventually finishing in a well-deserved 10th, just before overall World Cup winner Markus Schulte-Lutzum.
Thijs did a good job, finishing a solid race and getting 30th. Two weeks ago he broke his finger, so we were amazed by the fact he finished the race and even did so well.
“Aiming at 2014 Worlds, I’m happy to have attended here. This finish is not good, but even with these circumstances it is OK,” mentioned Thijs.
